At Bright Stars, we believe learning is interpreting and understanding reality in different ways. Learning involves comprehending the world by reinterpreting knowledge. Play is one of the most important thing’s a young child can do within their early years. Play is a key element in the development of major aspects in children lives e.g. building confidence, feeling loved, happy and safe, developing social, language and communication skills, learning about caring for others and the environment, developing physical skills and also to connect and refine pathways in children’s brains.

Our play and learning environments are filled with equipment, resources, natural and recyclable materials that are easily accessible to children at all times. Children are supported to use all equipment, resources and materials in multiple ways. We provide opportunities for children to explore, identify, negotiate, take risks and create meaning within the world they live in.

We learn about our local community in authentic real ways. We access local knowledge of the community by talking, discussing and learning from elders and educational facilities to build upon our children’s learning.

We believe that play is a vehicle for children making meaning. It begins in children’s infancy and continues throughout children’s lives and creates a foundation for future learning and understanding.  Play helps children develop social skills, problem solving skills in a way that is interesting, engaging and relevant to the children, it also connects children with their imagination, their environment, and furthers their communication skills.
